Aqui está, o primeiro single do novo trabalho de David Fonseca, preparado em segredo. É uma música divertida, fantástica, animada, com uma vibe anos 80 a que ele já nos habituou.

Ele andava muito sossegado. E já se sabe que quando uma pessoa (super) talentosa desaparece por uns tempos anda a preparar alguma coisa - algo brilhante. Esta semana, David Fonseca começou a levantar o véu sobre o novo trabalho, que vai ser a 21 de Março.

E a 21 de Setembro. Porque não é apenas um, mas dois álbuns. David Fonseca não faz a coisa por menos e passou os últimos tempos a gravar uma espécie de diário musical intitulado Seasons. Daí as datas simbólicas para o lançamento de Rising e de Falling - os dois volumes de Seasons.

A 6 de Fevereiro, conhece-se o primeiro single - que, a avaliar pela capa, vai ser poderoso, até porque mistura sons rock e de electrónica. Já é apanágio de David Fonseca ir buscar inspiração à pop electrónica dos anos 80 para os espectáculos - fica aqui este mash-up contagiante de Video Killed The Radio Star e The 80's.

No seu site prometem-se "apresentações inéditas no mercado discográfico". Se há coisa que David Fonseca não descura são as surpresas e a originalidade com que traz ao público a sua música. Prova disso é o Huge Fan Pack, caixa do álbum Between Waves, que incluía um EP com várias versões de A Cry For Love; um cartão de subscrição por um ano do Amazing Cats Club (clube criado pelo músico que dá aos amazing cats direito a surpresas exclusivas e vantagens na aquisição de bilhetes); e, entre outras coisas, um DVD com cinco actuações de músicas daquele álbum em locais inesperados (como túneis e pontes) - às quais tive oportunidade de assistir, já que David Fonseca convidou alguns fãs a acompanhá-lo numa tour de um dia pelas ruas de Lisboa, em Outubro de 2009.

He has been very quiet for too long, which could only mean one thing. When (super) talented people disappear for a while, you know they’re up to something great. Just this week, David Fonseca started to unveil his new work, to be released on March 21^st.

And on September 21^st. Because it’s not just one but two new albums. David Fonseca settles for no less than the best and has been recording a kind of musical journal, named ‘Seasons’. Thus the symbolic releasing dates to launch Rising and Falling – the two volumes that make Seasons.

The first single will be out on February 6^th and, judging by its cover, it’s going to be a powerful one, especially since it mixes rock and electronic sounds. David Fonseca usually takes inspiration in 80’s electronic pop music to his shows – check out above the catchy mash-up of ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ and ‘The 80’s’.

On his website, there is the promise of “unprecedented presentations in the recording market”. David Fonseca is nothing if not an artist full of surprises and creativity in bringing his music to the public. To prove it there’s the Huge Fan Pack, a box released with his previous album – Between Waves – that included an EP with some versions of ‘A Cry For Love’; a one-year subscription card to the Amazing Cats Club (a club created by the musician that gives the amazing cats many surprises and advantages in ticket purchasing); and, among other things, a DVD with 5 songs for that album performed live in unexpected places (tunnels and bridges, for instance) – that I had the privilege to watch, because David Fonseca invited some fans to go with him on a one-day tour to Lisbon, on October 2009.
