BRITs review: Coldplay and Rihanna better off

Together at the Grammys they looked like two Lego pieces that don't fit.

Individually at  the BRITs: Coldplay were good and cheerful as only Coldplay can be. It was a good night for the pop veterans as they even went home with the Best British Group award.

Rihanna was also better by herself - well, herself and a bunch of dancers who engaged in a paint battle. The American pop princess was voted International Female Solo Artist and beat up Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

Coldplay e Rihanna juntos nos Grammys foram desastrosos.

Nos BRITs, separados: os Coldplay estiveram bem, à sua maneira animada e muito característica. Foi uma boa noite para os veteranos da pop britânica que até levaram consigo o prémio de Melhor Grupo.

A Rihanna também esteve melhor sozinha. Aliás, sozinha mas com um bando de dançarinos, que travaram uma luta de tinta no palco. A menina bonita da pop americana venceu na categoria de Melhor Artista Feminina Internacional, superando Lady Gaga e Beyoncé.

Countdown to the BRIT Awards

I hope the BRIT Awards will be a bit more exciting than the Grammys in terms of performances. Coldplay could step it up a notch. On the other hand, Bruno Mars will be repeating 'Runaway Baby' - once again.

Adele, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Olly Murs and Rizzle Kicks, Noel Gallagher, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Blur will also perform at the O2 Arena on February 21st.

Also confirmed is a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

Espero bem que os BRIT Awards sejam um bocadinho melhores que os Grammys em termos de actuações. Os Coldplay podiam esforçar-se um pouco mais. Por outro lado, já se sabe que Bruno Mars vai repetir o 'Runaway Baby'.

No dia 21 de Fevereiro, também vão actuar também Adele, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Olly Murs and Rizzle Kicks, Noel Gallagher, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Blur.

Está confirmado um tributo a Whitney Houston.

New in: Madonna and Coldplay

So, there I was thinking that Madonna was more restrained on her comeback, even with her outfits, until the baby came along. Watch the video to see what I mean. What is a baby doing there?

I'm still deciding if I like the song or not. M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj are okay.

Here is the video for the 3rd single of Mylo Xyloto. It goes back to Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, with the all the glowing stuff in the dark (even the song says so), and I like it.

I like how Coldplay have been sticking to a theme for each album and building everything around it - lyrics, videos and even clothing. Also, this is a bubbly, party song, beautifully paired with a bubbly, party music video as well.

Grammys update: the performers II

Nominees Coldplay and Rihanna will be performing at the Grammys stage, the singer confirmed in her Twitter. They will present Mylo Xyloto's collaboration of 'Princess of China'.

Sir Paul McCartney also joins the list of performers. In his long career he has won 14 Grammy awards!

This year's host will be two-time Grammy winner LL Cool J.
