BRITs review: Adele flipping off the BRITs

So, Adele won British Female Solo Artist and Album Of The Year.

When thanking for the last award of the evening, Adele was cut off to make room for Blur's performance. She was very offended but, common, she had already wasted sometime simply saying "thank you" and being applauded.

Then she flipped off the BRITs organisation and audience. Very classy, Adele.

Off course, she probably was already pissed to have lost the Best Single award to One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful'. Only a teenage boys band combined with teenage screaming girls massively voting to dethrone Queen Adele.

Adele ganhou os prémios de Melhor Artista Britânica Feminina e de Álbum do Ano.

Enquanto estava a agradecer o último galardão da noite, cortaram-lhe a palavra para passar para a actuação dos Blur. A diva não gostou, mas também já tinha estado algum tempo só a dizer "obrigada" e a saborear os aplausos do público. 

Por isso, mostrou o dedo do meio à organização e à plateia. Tanta classe, Adele.

Claro está que Adele já devia estar bem chateada por ter perdido o prémio de Melhor Single para os One Direction com a sua 'What Makes You Beautiful'. Só mesmo uma boys band adolescente juntamente com fãs histéricas adolescentes a votar em massa para destronar a Rainha Adele.

BRITs review: Coldplay and Rihanna better off

Together at the Grammys they looked like two Lego pieces that don't fit.

Individually at  the BRITs: Coldplay were good and cheerful as only Coldplay can be. It was a good night for the pop veterans as they even went home with the Best British Group award.

Rihanna was also better by herself - well, herself and a bunch of dancers who engaged in a paint battle. The American pop princess was voted International Female Solo Artist and beat up Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

Coldplay e Rihanna juntos nos Grammys foram desastrosos.

Nos BRITs, separados: os Coldplay estiveram bem, à sua maneira animada e muito característica. Foi uma boa noite para os veteranos da pop britânica que até levaram consigo o prémio de Melhor Grupo.

A Rihanna também esteve melhor sozinha. Aliás, sozinha mas com um bando de dançarinos, que travaram uma luta de tinta no palco. A menina bonita da pop americana venceu na categoria de Melhor Artista Feminina Internacional, superando Lady Gaga e Beyoncé.

BRITs review: a nice little show

The BRITs have come and gone. The British music night brought little surprises, except maybe for Ed Sheeran's being the big winner.

Overall, I thought it wasn't amazing but it was a much better show than this year's Grammys. The performances topped the ones presented at the Grammys -  by the same artists. The all ceremony seemed to have a lot more preparation than its American counterpart.

The light effects were beautifully put especially during performances and the shape of the stage worked well with the space.

James Corden, the repeating presenter, printed the English class and sense of humour into the award show.

For the downside, I thought the tributes for Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse could have been a lot better. The BRITs organisation could have gotten someone to perform one of their hits or something other than simple videos of the singers.

One thing I find odd is that more British legends are being honoured in th US than in the UK. MTV EMAs 2011 invited Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor to perform and Paul McCartney played twice at the Grammys. On the other hand, thumbs up for Blur's Outstanding Contribute to Music award - who put up a great mini-show. They have grown old, though.

Lá se foram mais uns BRITs. A noite da música britânica não trouxe muitas surpresas, talvez com a excepção de Ed Sheeran ter sido o grande vencedor da noite.

No geral, achei que a cerimónia foi muito melhor que a dos Grammys. As actuações - dos mesmos artistas que actuaram nos Grammys - foram superiores. Todo o espectáculo pareceu ter mais preparação do que o seu homólogo americano.

Os efeitos de luzes foram muito bons, especialmente durante as actuações, e mesmo a forma do palco funcionava bem no espaço.

O apresentador repetente nestas andanças, James Corden, cunhou a cerimónia da classe e humor britânicos - como não podia deixar de ser.

Quanto aos aspectos negativos, achei que os tributos a Whitney Houston e Amy Winehouse podiam ter sido bem melhores. A organização podia ter convidado alguém para recordar êxitos das cantoras ou outra coisa para além dos simples vídeos de memórias.

Acho curioso que os Estados Unidos andem a homenagear mais lendas da música britânica do que o próprio Reino Unido. Os MTV EMAs de 2011 tiveram a actuação de Brian May e Roger Taylor dos Queen e Paul McCartney cantou duas vezes nos Grammys. Por outro lado, foi bem atribuído o prémio de Contributo Excepcional para a Música aos Blur - que deram um mini-concerto de grandes músicas, . Mas estão velhos, nota-se.
