Foi ao som da chuva a bater no Mercado da Ribeira que aconteceu a primeira noite dos concertos Optimus da Lisbon Week. Márcia, Walter Benjamin, Minta & The Brook Trout e You Can't Win, Charlie Brown foram os convidados de 25 de Outubro.
Márcia fez as honras ao abrir a noite em tom intimista. Canta 'A Pele que Há em Mim' sem JP Simões mas convida Samuel Úria para a recente 'Eu Seguro'. É o primeiro de muitos convidados da noite que, podia dizer-se, teve uma só grande banda feita de músicos amigos em vez de quatro actuações individuais.
Apresentando o nome que se seguia no cartaz, Márcia chama ao palco Walter Benjamin e os músicos que o acompanham. Juntam-se ainda Francisca Cortesão (Minta & The Brook Trout), Afonso Cabral e Salvador Menezes (You Can't Win, Charlie Brown). É assim que se passa o testemunho durante a noite.
Walter Benjamin traz o último trabalho, The Imaginary Life of Rosemary and Me. Márcia e Francisca Cortesão regressam para emprestar as vozes às melodias do artista sediado em Londres. 'High Speed Love' arranca ao público os primeiros coros da noite.
Transição para Minta & The Brook Trout. Pede-se silêncio a um ambiente já receptivo às músicas calmas da banda de Francisca Cortesão. O álbum Olympia acaba de sair e o público já reconhece e acompanha os alguns versos. Para 'Falcon', juntam-se novamente aos microfones Afonso Cabral e Salvador Menezes, como se fez na gravação do disco.
Nova passagem de testemunho e sobem ao palco os You Can't Win, Charlie Brown, agora em colectivo. Ocupam todo o palco. Guitarras que não acabam, bateria, teclas (comandadas por João Gil, ou Vitorino Voador) e a parafernália de instrumentos que compõe o imaginário de David Santos (Noiserv, nos tempos livres).
O resultado são músicas intensas e harmoniosas onde todos os instrumentos se ligam de forma natural. Juntam-se ainda as vozes sussurrantes da banda, num todo que abafa a chuva lá fora. É uma pop de mansinho, colorida e feliz, perfeita para encerrar a noite em ambiente de festa.
Pouco depois da terem tocado na íntegra o eterno álbum da banana dos Velvet Underground, no Lux, a banda recupera 'There She Goes Again'. O fim chega com 'Over the Sun/Under the Water'. Sem mais razões, chamam-se novamente as bandas que fizeram a noite. No palco, catorze músicos recebem o aplauso final de uma plateia completamente rendida.

October 25th, Mercado da Ribeira, Lisbon. The pouring rain marked the first of three nights of concerts inserted in the Lisbon Week, with performances by Portuguese artists Márcia, Walter Benjamin, Minta & The Brook Trout and You Can't Win, Charlie Brown.
Márcia, a singer/songwriter, openned up in an intimate concert. 'A Pele que Há em Mim' is one of her best songs, which she usually sings with JP Simões. This time, she didn't bring him but invited instead Samuel Úria. They played the recently released single 'Eu Seguro'. He was the first of many guests invited to come up on stage, in a night that could be summed as just one performance by one big band instead of four groups - all the musicians played together several times creating a fun atmosphere.
Márcia introduced Walter Benjamin, the following singer/songwriter. Based in London, the Portuguese musician brought to Lisbon his latest album, The Imaginary Life of Rosemary and Me. Márcia, Francisca Cortesão (Minta & The Brook Trout), Afonso Cabral and Salvador Menezes (You Can't Win, Charlie Brown) lent their voices to the soft melodies of Walter Benjamin. With the song 'High Speed Love'he created the first moment for the crowd to sing along.
Next on: Minta & The Brook Trout. The band presented their recent album, Olympia, which the public already knows. 'Falcon' brought back the voices from You Can't Win, Charlie Brown, Afonso Cabral and Salvador Menezes, to recreate the making of the album in which they participate.
The members of You Can't Win Charlie Brown came up on stage, this time gathered by their band mates. They takeover the stage because there's six of them and due to the intensity of their music. There are endless guitars rotating through all the concert, drums, keyboards (mastered by João Gil, also known by his latest project Vitorino Voador) and the unusual instruments brought by David Santos (the mastermind behind the project Noiserv).
All that is complemented by their voices in a really balanced way. It could easily sound like too much, but it just doesn't. It's a smooth pop, colourful and happy - perfect to wrap up the night not before a special surprise.
Just a few weeks ago, You Can't Win, Charlie Brown played a show where they covered the entire The Velvet Underground & Nico album. The band went back to that night and played 'There She Goes Again'.
The end came with 'Over the Sun/Under the Water'. All the musicians were invited to receive the last round of applause and the night ended with 14 people on stage, in front of an ecstatic audience.
