We The Kings should get the congeniality award, if those were given in the music biz. Never before I've seen or heard of a band that gives so much to the fans.
Lets stress that We The Kings are just starting now. On March 11th they opened up for Simple Plan at Lisbon's Coliseum. It was their first time ever as a band in Europe and I pretty sure it was as special for them as it was for the fans.
Here is why. I don't know how it started (fans are welcome to comment - I would like to know, really) but as I was coming out of the venue after interviewing the guys from Simple Plan, front man Travis Clark was sitting with his guitar on the stairs in an alley, serenading a bunch of fans.
One may say that it is just their way to promote the band. It might be. But for those fans, that moment was something unforgettable, much more than just promotion.
The acoustic outside improvised showcase was an amazing and quite unseen warm up for the show later that evening, which failed only for being so short. I think they played 7 songs. Nonetheless, We The Kings brought a great atmosphere to the crowd, despite most of the people not knowing any of the band's songs.
Sunshine State of Mind is the album they released in 2011, which includes the singles 'Friday is Forever', 'Every Single Dollar' and 'Say You Like Me'.
Their music is warm and reminds you of Florida's (the band's hometown) weather and lifestyle. During the 30 minutes of the show, the charismatic lead singer Clark praised the Portuguese crowd for being sexy. Band mate and guitar player, Hunter Thomsen, was also rocking it pretty hard. The all show was pretty good. At the end of night the song playing in my head was one of We The Kings'. If more people were curious, like me, to find out more about this band, We The Kings gained some fans in Lisbon.

Se existisse um prémio da banda mais simpática, os We The Kings arrecadavam-no. Nunca vi uma banda que se desse tanto aos fãs.
Está bom de ver que os We The Kings estão agora a começar. No dia 11 de Março fizeram a abertura dos Simple Plan no Coliseu de Lisboa. Foi a sua primeira actuação na Europa e quer-me parecer que foi tão especial para a banda quanto para os fãs.
Eis o porquê. Não sei bem como começou (fãs podem comentar - gostava mesmo de saber), mas quando estava a sair do Coliseu depois de entrevistar os Simple Plan, o vocalista Travis Clark estava sentado nas escadas laterais do edifício, com a sua guitarra, numa autêntica serenata aos fãs.
Pode dizer-se que é uma maneira de promoção da banda. Até pode ser. Mas para os fãs dos We The Kings, aquele momento foi inesquecível, muito mais do que uma acção de marketing.
O showcase acústico improvisado ao ar livre foi um espectacular e surpreendente aquecimento para o concerto da noite, que pecou só por ter sido tão curto. Acho que tocaram umas 7 músicas. Mesmo assim, os We The Kings instalaram uma atmosfera positiva ainda que grande parte do público não conhecesse nenhuma das suas músicas.
